“If a bird that could fly only wished for flight as it sat on a limb…before long it would be unable to fly.
Same goes for anyone wishing for anything…if all they do is wish.”
A few years ago, I make a move in my business that I naively believe will result in hundreds of people signing up for my free newsletter.
The result…maybe two…perhaps none.
My coach at the time, Wendi Kelly of Blue Sun Studio, gives my ego a powerful lesson when she explains that my actions don’t have specific results, but that as I keep taking action, I’m putting drops into the bucket of my journey.
How interesting…drops in a bucket…doing what I do.
As time passes, I notice that I’m becoming less and less attached to the outcome of my actions, which is good, as well as freeing, and I’m taking more action, which is the path.
In other words, we can go back to the quote at the top of this post. If all we do is wish, we won’t get very far. Wishing doesn’t make things so or enable us to fly.
But if we intend to be a voice for the path we’re called to be a voice for….and we continue to step into actions that bring our voice further into the world, magic of influence will begin to occur.
In my world, here’s some of the magic dust aligning:
A woman says that she’d like to read my book, because she believes that the peaceful, joyful presence I offer means my book will be good.
When I comment on a Facebook post, I receive an invitation for an interview.
When I say I’ll offer joyful wares the second day, giving 20% to the church, I’m given the green light.
Sunday sales and customer engagement are four times higher than Saturday!
The path unfolds with mysteries of grace moment by moment, all because I stopped wishing for results, but began doing more by adding drops into my bucket.
Which is how the level rises!
Put your drops in, dear reader…put your drops in.
Before you and I know it, we’re flying!
